Let’s have a look at the particulars of this November Full Moon. We’re currently experiencing the Beaver Moon, also known by the names of Frost Moon, Freezing Moon, and the Moon Before Yule. As usual, the Full Moon signifies the symbolic peak of energies and represents the halfway point between the Lunar Cycle. Our Full Moon in Gemini is in direct opposition to the current Sun under Sagittarius, which creates some tension but also opens the door for greater possibilities.
This is a particularly exciting Full Moon, as it’s also a Lunar Eclipse! Specifically, a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse (when the Earth, Sun, and Moon are not fully aligned. The Earth blocks some of the Sun’s light from hitting the Moon, and instead covers the surface of the Moon with the outer part of its shadow ["penumbra"]. As a result, we see the Moon turn a slightly darker shade than usual), and the last of its kind for the rest of 2020.
However, as Eclipses come in pairs (and sometimes threes!), we can expect a Solar Eclipse on December 14th as the Eclipse cycle is completed. Excitingly, the next Eclipse pair we will see in 2021 brings us a Total Lunar Eclipse (where the Moon turns red [“Blood Moon”]) in late May, and early June marks the first Solar Eclipse to pass over the North Pole - the first Eclipse to do so during this century! But I’m getting ahead of myself. For now, let’s have a look at your horoscopes for today’s Gemini Full Moon!
